Here He Is - Kasim Sulton

The DVD from the Kasim show in Atlanta is finally ready and available for you to purchase at www.KasimStore.com. Here's a sneak peak on youtube for your viewing pleasure:

In order to properly celebrate the launch of the new DVD, Rundgren Radio will be joined by Kasim at 8:30 pm ET this Tuesday night 12/16/08.

Kasim has toured and/or recorded with the likes of Utopia, Todd Rundgren, The New Cars, Meat Loaf, The Indigo Girls, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Hall & Oates and others. Kasim starts up a new leg of the "Arena" tour with Todd Rundgren Wednesday through the end of 2008.

When he's not helping others by adding vocals, bass, guitar, or keyboards, Kasim has a solo career of his own. He brought his special brand of songwriting to a RundgrenRadio / GroupieGear solo show in Atlanta earlier this year. The event was recorded for a DVD to be released later this month through KasimStore.com.

We will talk with Kasim about the DVD release and touring with Todd, among other things. Kasim will be busy for the next few weeks, so here's your chance to get the scoop from the man himself. Please feel free to call-in with your questions. 646-716-9262

Rundgren Radio #1! Also, Paul Freeman stops by for a show!

There are 3599 different music shows on Blog Talk Radio and the #1 Most Popular Music Show title belongs to none other than Rundgren Radio!

A special thanks goes out to Colin Moulding and the XTC fans for helping get us there, and of course we also thank our regular Todd Rundgren fans that listen to the shows. WE LOVE YOU GUYS AND GALS!

Paul Freeman was our special guest last night, Tuesday 12/9/08. He is an emerging singer-songwriter-frontman that has been the opening act for Todd Rundgren several times this year and will be opening for him in the future including both NY Blender shows. The archive is worth a listen just for the Welsh accent! The chat room was quite busy during the show and the feedback on his music was very positive. Paul has already had one of his songs on the TV show, "The Hills", and he will be launching his first album soon. He has an EP available now.

XTC's Colin Moulding on a Rundgren Radio SPECIAL EDITION!

Sunday 2pm ET on December 7, 2008!

Colin Moulding (born Colin Ivor Moulding, 17 August 1955, Swindon, Wiltshire, England) is a founding member of the new wave/rock/pop group XTC, in which he is the bassist and secondary songwriter and vocalist. Though less prolific than bandmate Andy Partridge, he has written many of the group's most popular songs, including their first three UK hit singles: "Life Begins At The Hop", "Making Plans For Nigel", and "Generals and Majors". "Making Plans For Nigel" was also a Top 20 hit in Canada, and "Generals and Majors" was the band's first U.S. chart entry, peaking at #104 in 1980.

Moulding's style of bass playing is characterized by a strong and tasteful melodic sensibility, much in the tradition of such predecessors as James Jamerson, Paul McCartney, and Brian Wilson. Representative track examples of Moulding's playing include "Burning With Optimism's Flames," "Snowman," "Season Cycle" and "Easter Theatre".

Moulding contributed five tracks to the album
Skylarking (produced by Todd Rundgren) and four each to Go 2, Drums and Wires, English Settlement and Nonsuch. XTC's final album, Wasp Star (Apple Venus Volume 2), was issued in 2000. A handful of other new XTC tracks (including Moulding's "Where Did All The Ordinary People Go" and "Say It") appeared on singles and compilation albums up until 2005. After this point, XTC became inactive.

In February 2007, Partridge told music website Pitchfork Media Moulding was "not interested in music anymore, and doesn't want to write." In February 2008, Partridge stated that Moulding has moved and the only method of contact between them is e-mails via their manager. On November 23, 2008, Moulding emerged for an interview about Making Plans For Nigel for an installment in the series of interviews by Todd Bernhardt.

Ev and Ryan Olcott from 12 Rods on RR this Tuesday night!

Show starts at 8:30pm ET. 12/2/08.

12 Rods were formed by Ryan Olcott, Christopher McGuire, Matt Flynn, and Daniel Perlin at Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio, in May 1992. At this time the band were known as Ryan'z Bihg Hed. A cassette recording of their performance at a local high school graduation party named "Field Fest 3" early in the summer of 1992 became their first release, named Helikopter Hundrid Dolurz. They self-released an album called Bliss in 1993 and the gay? EP in 1996, one year after moving to Minneapolis. It was one of Pitchfork Media's few albums given a rating of 10.0, bringing the band much-needed publicity. Strangely, gay? almost didn't get a real review. Former Pitchfork columnist Jason Josephes spoke of it favorably in his "Three Blocks from Groove Street" column after he and Pitchfork founder Ryan Schreiber saw 12 Rods' first Minneapolis concert and bought the EP. After Josephes gushed over the EP, Schreiber demanded a full review from Josephes. 12 Rods signed with V2 in 1996 and re-released gay? while they recorded a new album.

Split Personalities, which many consider their best album, was released in 1998. Pitchfork Media named it in their first list of the best albums of the 1990s (although it was absent in the second version). After two strong releases, despite the departure of drummer Christopher McGuire, 12 Rods looked set to make some sort of an impact on the charts with their next album, the Todd Rundgren-produced Separation Anxieties, but it was not to be. The album failed miserably, both critically and commercially, and 12 Rods were dropped by V2. They struggled on for one more album, 2002's self-released Lost Time, but ceased to be as of 2004.
