Special announcement show 11/21/08, what was it??

RundgrenRadio.com had a special edition show on Friday morning to make an announcement about the Todd Rundgren gig in Philly on New Year's Eve that we are hosting. So, what was the announcement?

Well, as you may have heard, two Todd fans are going to get married at the venue right before the concert. They wanted to get married in front of their Todd fan friends and that's exactly what's going to happen. In order to make this event even more special for them, KASIM SULTON has agreed to sing a song during their wedding! How cool it that?

Kasim has his own successful solo career but he also frequently tours with Todd Rundgren and also Meatloaf. He was a member of UTOPIA and The New Cars as most of you know. His resume is loaded with great musicians he has performed with on tour, or in the studio, including but not limited to Joan Jett, Indigo Girls, & Hall & Oates.

RundgrenRadio.com co-hosted a Kasim solo gig last March in Atlanta, GA with GroupieGear.com. An official DVD of that event will be launched next month just in time for the holidays! Keep an eye on http://www.kasimstore.com/ if you are interested.

Special guest JILL SOBULE this Tuesday night 11/18/08!

Jill Sobule is a singer best known for the 1995 single "I Kissed a Girl", and "Supermodel" from the soundtrack of the 1995 film "Clueless". Her folk-inflected compositions alternate between ironic, story-driven character studies and emotive ballads. Autobiographical elements, including Sobule's Jewish heritage and her adolescent battles with anorexia and depression, frequently occur in Sobule's writing. An appreciable percentage of her work is also dedicated to detailed accounts of both her own fictional female creations and such troubled but celebrated women as Joey Heatherton and Mary Kay Letourneau, whose stories are usually used to make ironic comments about fame and celebrity.

Sobule's debut album "Things Here Are Different" was released in 1990 and was produced by pop legend Todd Rundgren.

Presidential Election Night Special this Tuesday Nov.4 on Rundgren Radio!

Mute your TV this Tuesday night at 8:30pm ET and listen to some great Todd music at http://www.rundgrenradio.com/ during election night 2008! All political parties welcome but make sure you voted!

• Hosts Doug and Mel will talk about some things for just a few minutes, including the November "Battle of the Todds", and then play over an hour and a half of Todd songs that have some type of political reference in them. Some of the references are subtle, and some aren't. Some of the songs are fun and some are a bit more angry. One thing is for sure, it's all good music!!!
• Some rare live recordings will be on tap including an instrumental from the rare "Disco Jets" titled "Spirit of '76" featuring Utopia. Also, if you've never heard anything from Todd's musical "Up Against It", you'll get your chance during this show. We even have a Nazz song for you.
• The chat room will be open to discuss the music and the election results.
