Rundgren Radio presents: The Battle of the Todds Contest!

Starting with the October 7th show, we will play clips of the Todd/Nazz/Utopia song choices of 4 contestants along with our new promo spot from Todd. The first lucky contestants are a few of the long time listeners -- Roger, dustin29, Darnelle, and veggiegurl.

We will be taking the new Todd promo audio clip we have where he says, "Hello everybody, this is Todd Rundgren and you're listening to RundgrenRadio.com", and add background music for about 30 seconds or so. The time depends on when we feel like it's a good time to fade in and fade out the music. The first week of each month 4 contestants song choices will be pitted against each other during the show and one will be eliminated. At the end of the month we will have one winner!

We are going to set up a poll here immediately after the 10/7 show where listeners can vote on which RR promo clip song they liked the best. The song promo clip with the least votes gets eliminated each week until we're down to one.

The monthly winner will get a prize and of course a huge boost to their pride. The prize will be a RR shirt or something, TBD.

For contestants, we are going in order of when people join this blog as followers. Please sign up (look up to the upper right corner) if you'd like to compete!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Denny Laine!

Editors note: This show has already taken place, but you can listen to the entire show featuring Denny Laine by visiting ...

It's Tuesday and that means it's Rundgren Radio show day! Please join us today at 8:30 pm ET as our guest for tonight is Denny Laine!

Denny Laine founded the Moody Blues in 1964 and had a hit song with his own composition, "Go Now," still played on classic rock stations across the world. In 1966, Denny left the Moody Blues in search of greater commercial success. He formed The Electric String Band and did some work with Ginger Baker's Air Force, a partial offshoot of Blind Faith.

By 1971, Denny had co-founded Wings with Paul McCartney. Wings enjoyed huge international success. Some of their hits were "Hi, Hi, Hi," "My Love," "Live & Let Die," "Band on the Run," "Jet," "Silly Love Songs," "Let 'Em In," "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Mull of Kintyre," and "With A Little Luck," among others. They were truly a band, as each member sang lead on songs, not only Sir Paul. However, personnel changes abounded during Wings' tenure, but Denny, Paul & Linda stayed the course until 1981, when they finally disbanded amid talk of a souring relationship between McCartney & Laine. Was it the result of McCartney's drug arrest in Japan derailing their tour plans in 1980? (You be the judge when you hear what Denny has to say tonight.)

Denny has been active recording solo material and making appearances both solo and in all-star ensemble settings such as Beatlefest events ever since. Most recently, Denny joined Todd Rundgren, Christopher Cross, Lou Gramm, Greg Hawkes, Bo Bice, John Ferenzik, Prairie Prince and Jesse Gress on tour in a tribute to the Sgt. Pepper album "It Was 40 Years Ago Today."

Check out Rundgren Radio tonight at 8:30 ET to see what Denny has in store for the future. He might even have a fun story or two about OH. We welcome your questions at 646-716-9262.
